Role Summary
We are looking for a technically strong Delivery Lead with a software engineering background who is ready to take broader ownership of engineering delivery, team coordination, backlog execution, and stakeholder alignment.
The role combines engineering delivery, product and backlog management, Scrum execution, technical coordination, and team leadership. You will work closely with Product Management and technical leadership, acting as a proxy Product Owner for the engineering backlog while ensuring the team remains aligned, unblocked, and focused on delivery.
This is not an architecture role. However, you must have sufficient technical depth to understand engineering activities, participate confidently in technical discussions, challenge estimates and assumptions, identify risks and dependencies, and effectively bridge Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders.
You will work closely with company leadership, Product, and Engineering teams to ensure priorities are translated into executable plans and delivered effectively.
This role is well suited for a technically grounded professional who enjoys engineering, has started taking broader ownership beyond individual development tasks, and aspires to grow into engineering delivery and people management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Own day-to-day engineering delivery for a technical team of approximately 10–15 engineers, ensuring alignment with product and business priorities.
Act as a proxy Product Owner, working with Product Management and technical leadership to refine, prioritize, and maintain the engineering backlog.
Translate product priorities into clear and actionable engineering work with appropriate requirements, dependencies, and acceptance criteria.
Drive Agile/Scrum execution, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, capacity planning, and delivery tracking.
Track delivery commitments, risks, dependencies, defects, technical debt, and blockers, and proactively drive them toward resolution.
Participate in technical discussions and constructively challenge estimates, assumptions, dependencies, and delivery risks without owning architectural decisions.
Coordinate across Product, Engineering, QA, DevOps, Security, and leadership to ensure smooth execution and provide clear visibility into delivery status and risks.
Guide and support engineers through mentoring, feedback, goal alignment, workload planning, and day-to-day team coordination.
Participate in hiring and support technical documentation, security, compliance, and customer-related activities when required.
Identify opportunities to improve engineering delivery through process improvements, automation, basic scripting, and AI/LLM-based productivity tools.
Drive continuous improvement in team effectiveness, delivery predictability, ownership, and accountability.
Required Skills & Qualifications
7+ years of overall experience in software engineering, with a strong technical foundation and increasing ownership beyond individual development responsibilities.
Strong software engineering background with previous hands-on development experience.
Experience leading or coordinating engineering activities and working effectively with engineering, product, and business stakeholders.
Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum and software delivery practices.
Good understanding of modern software engineering concepts, including APIs, databases, CI/CD, testing, cloud environments, and the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
Practical exposure to AWS or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Strong communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, prioritization, and facilitation skills.
Strong ownership mindset with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving environment.
Interest in using AI/LLM tools and automation to improve engineering and delivery productivity.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Skills
Experience working with cloud-native, SaaS, enterprise software, AI, or platform engineering teams.
Experience managing distributed or remote engineering teams.
Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Familiarity with modern AI/LLM technologies and AI-assisted software development practices.
Experience supporting technical documentation, security, compliance, or audit activities.
Scrum Master, Product Owner, PMP, SAFe, or equivalent certification is an advantage.
